Rolling Out

Originally, I planned to place two tomatoes on the vine in the bowl, and take a picture. However, while I was placing them, the heaviest tomato weighed the bowl down and tried to escape :) And suddenly it was perfect for picture taking! I added a few water drops.... just because I love adding water drops so much! :)

The painting was made on a 5x7x1/8 inch Ampersand gessoed hard board using professional grade acrylic paint.

Reflection

I have a new painting crush: fruit in bowls. I got some dip bowls, but they look so cute with pears and apples in them. So I got inspired, and now I cannot stop! :) Hope you like it too!

This original acrylic painting is made on a 6x8x1/8 inch Ampersand archival gesso board using professional grade acrylic paint.

Sliced Avocado

Today I am having an avocado slice painting! Avocados are certainly a joy to paint, and sometimes it is very hard to stop :) Well, I can easily get carried away, and paint a lot of pretty much anything, but avocados are on top of the list!

I love this piece because it is so bright, and it makes me happy just looking at it! I added a tiny water drop on the table. I thought it would be a tiny cute addition to the piece!

Cherries on Laced Cloth

I decided to paint these cherries for two reasons. First, I love painting cherries :) And second, my grandma had linen and cotton cloth on every piece of her furniture. I absolutely adored looking at them! It is hard to believe it now, but they were hand-made by her, including the most intricate designs! Most of them are gone now, but I brought a few to the US with me. So I used it for this cherry set-up. I hope you would love this painting in your home. You definitely get a piece of my heart with this painting.

This painting is made on a 5x5x1/8 inch Ampersand archival museum quality gesso board using professional grade acrylic paint.

Strawberry Trio

I really love this strawberry trio. It reminds me of my carefree childhood. I would pick up a bunch of strawberries, wash them and eat them while reading my favorite O'Henry's short stories outside.
This piece was a joy to paint!

This original acrylic still life painting is made on a 5x7x1/8 inch Ampersand archival museum quality gesso board using professional grade acrylic paint.

Half a Dozen of Mushrooms

I decided to paint another mushroom painting on a longer deep profile canvas. I got some mushrooms from the local grocery store, and played with mushroom compositions. I've learned that they look cute any way you place them. Each of them has its own character! I just love those tiny cuties! They cheer me up every time I look at them! This one is on 4x12x1.5' deep profile gallery wrapped canvas. Acrylic.

A Bowl of Red Apples

Apples are my favorite fruit! I eat a lot of them. Every time I go to the grocery store to buy a bag of apples, the cashier asks me if I am going to make an apple pie. No, I say, I eat them just like that. Usually, after I say this, people in the line gasp... lol maybe because I buy a big bag of apples. Somehow I always try to squeeze a lot of apples into one bag.... :) And sometimes I buy two bags.... :) One time something funny happened. I just finished explaining that I eat them raw, when the lady in line behind me looked at me, and told her husband, "That's it! I am eating apples starting tomorrow!" :)

The painting is 9x12x0.5' on stretched canvas. Acrylic.

In the Spotlight

Painting donuts is a lot of fun! They come in so many varieties! I like to paint them leaning on blue Moroccan kitchen tiles. A bright pink donut covered with lots of multi-colored sprinkles on blue background! What can possibly make us happier while drinking a coffee cup in the morning? :)

The painting is 6x6x1.5' on gallery wrapped (deep profile) canvas. The sides are painted blue to harmonize!

A Leafy Tangerine

It has been a while since I posted. That's because we had a family vacation to Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon and Zion Canyon! That's a lot of canyons! :) I am back with a nice suntan, lots of pics and a lot of energy to create!

Here is a leafy tangerine for you today! :) 6x8x1/8' acrylic on Ampersand gesso board.

Chocolate Dipped Strawberry

I've always wanted to paint a chocolate dipped strawberry, but never had a photo that inspired me. Recently, we had a new tiny store opened in our outlet mall, and their chocolate covered strawberries look so yummy! I bought some and took pictures. I love chocolate glaze with a hint of Alizarin in it!
At frist I made the background dark grey with lighter grey mottling on the sides, but then I changed it and made the sides black. I think it really pops the chocolate strawberry up!

The painting is made on 6x6x1.5', acrylic on gallery wrapped (deep profile) canvas.

Two Hot Chili Peppers

I started these two chili peppers a while ago, but was not quite happy with my choice of background. Originally, I thought to make it grey, but it looked too boring to me, so I changed it into green with some lighter green mottling. I really like the contrast! Painted on my favorite Ampersand gesso board! Acrylic on 5x7 inch archival board!

Halved Strawberry

My 13-year-old daughter loves fruit salad in the morning. I mix all sorts of fruit that I can find in my refrigerator. One morning I was cutting fruit, and I noticed that strawberries have a very cute heart-like shape inside. I carefully cut one with the stem and the still life composition was ready to paint!

Hope you enjoy this one!

Floating Donut

(commissioned painting)

This was a very interesting commission. The customer wanted to re-create a certain look in one of their kid's room. The kid loves chocolate donuts the best, can't blame him!:)
So I painted them a donut floating in the sky. 18x18', acrylic on stretched canvas.

Three Tart Cherries

As much as I love painting on stretched canvas, sometimes storing a lot of canvas paintings can be tricky. That's where Ampersand Gesso boards come handy. They are flat 1/8' archival museum quality canvas boards and very easy to store! I just sew a nice felt case for it on my sewing machine, and store the painting safely on the shelf till it finds a nice home! :)

This cherry painting is done on 6x6' archival Ampersand gesso board. Acrylic.

Chili Twist

My previous customer from the Netherlands inspired me to paint more red chili peppers. After all, red is one of my favorite colors! This dark grey was made of carbon black and titanium white. This black has a tad of a blue bias, love this!
